ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday said that joint session of the parliament would be summoned in first week of February to finalise new terms of engagements with Nato and allies regarding war on terror.

Talking to the media persons outside the Parliament House, she said, the government would also bring pending legislation in the joint session as a round of consultations with allied parties has already been completed. Opposition would also be taken on-board in this regard. The minister said incomplete voter lists and legal lacunas in the formation of ECP would also be rectified in consultation with opposition so the by elections could be held as per schedule.

“Free, fair and transparent elections would be ensured by empowering the Election Commission of Pakistan,” she said. She said the supremacy of the constitution would be ensured in the country. Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has made history after appearing before the Supreme Court of Pakistan, she said.
