Judiciary closed the door on coup: CJ

KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Saturday said that judiciary had closed the door on martial law by voiding Nov 3, 2007 diktats, Geo News reported.

Addressing a ceremony held to distribute certificates among new enrollees at Karachi Supreme Court Registry, Chief Justice said that oath-taking under Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) had also been declared illegal and unconstitutional.

Pinning high hopes on young lawyers, he said, it was expected that they (lawyers) would prove to be the stalwarts of law and not its saboteurs.
