Interim challan in Haj case presented

RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Saturday presented an interim challan of the Haj corruption case before the Special Judge Central (SJC) Khalid Bashir. The court adjourned further proceeding of case till February 14, 2012. The FIA presented former Religious Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi and former DG Haj Rao Shakil in the court. The FIA had registered a case against Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Rao Shakil and some others allegedly involved in the Haj scandal in 2010.

Quetta receives first snowfall

QUETTA: The Quetta Valley and northern parts of Balochistan received the first snowfall of the season on Saturday. This broke a long dry spell and brought a humid and chilled wave. The snowfall, which started at around 12:15pm, continued till the filing of this report late on Saturday night. According to the local Met office, about the fall of 4mm snow was recorded in Quetta, while the temperature dropped to minus seven. The Quetta-Multan and Quetta-Islamabad flights had been postponed due to the snowfall, while the National Highway remained blocked.

Nawaz, family leave for London

LAHORE: PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif along with his family Saturday left for London on a 10-day personal visit. In London, Nawaz will meet the PML-N workers. Meanwhile, talking to a TV channel, Nawaz said upcoming elections are very important and the polls will mark the future of Pakistan. Criticising the government, he said the people have not given mandate to the present rulers to indulge in corruption.
