PepsiCo Inc. is weighing thousands of job cuts as part of a broader review of its beverage and snack businesses, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Purchase, N.Y., company has promised to update investors on the results of that review in the coming weeks. PepsiCo lowered profit forecasts last year as its struggling beverage division, which includes its flagship cola, Tropicana orange juice and Gatorade sports drinks, continued to lose market share to rival Coca-Cola Co.
